Welcome to Scribbles and Swirls – a bespoke calligraphy and design studio!
Scribbles & Swirls is a custom design studio specializing in custom calligraphy and bespoke wedding stationery. Though her studio is based in the heart of Dallas, Betty works with brides from every corner of the country to collaborate on the wedding stationery and calligraphy of their dreams.
Betty works one-on-one with each bride to personally understand their wedding style and aesthetic. Scribbles & Swirls brides appreciate the small details: hand-deckled paper, vellum envelopes, custom letterpress colors, the unique nature of each individually written name. Betty walks each of her brides through the design process, helping them choose the most special calligraphy style or invitation suite for their perfect wedding day. Betty works with brides on every aspect of their wedding paper, from designing a full custom invitation suite to simply addressing envelopes or escort cards.
Betty got an unconventional start to calligraphy - a definite left brain/right brain person, she was a major in Information Management Systems at Texas A&M. A few years later, she took a calligraphy class for fun. What started as hobby as addressing wedding invitations for friends flourished into a true passion and craft. Betty has been wielding her nib and vintage letterpress machine ever since. She treasures meeting brides, learning their love stories, and helping them design the invitation suites of their dreams. Lovingly hand-writing each guest’s name on an envelope or designing bespoke stationery down to the tiniest details is Betty’s favorite part of what she does.
When not writing and designing, Betty spends time with her husband and brood of rescue dogs. Betty is passionate about local animal rescue organizations, having fostered fifteen rescue dogs herself (and naming her calligraphy styles after them!). Scribbles & Swirls donates 10% of all proceeds to local animal rescue organizations.
